Staying Active and Fit during Extended Stays in PCS Lodging
You've packed up all your belongings, arrived at your new installation, and now you and your family are living in permanent change of station lodging for an undetermined amount of time. What options are available to help you pass the time while you're waiting to get settled into your new home? Visit your installation Morale, Welfare and Recreation Center or Sport and Fitness Center for a variety of recreational activities to get you involved and to help you stay fit and healthy.
MWR Recreation Centers
You and your family can join in the fun by taking part in directed and planned group activities, or you can pick and choose what activities are best suited for your family.
Here are just a few of the many resources and activities you have to choose from:
Computer centers with Internet cafés
Leisure travel information
Merchandise and snack bars
Music rooms
Equipment checkout
Amusement machines
Individual computer stations for computer gaming
Meeting rooms for community and unit functions
While waiting for your permanent housing to become available, you and your family can spend some time taking advantage of the many activities offered by Recreation Centers. It will also give you a chance to start building new friendships and finding people with similar interests and hobbies. Getting involved helps you get to know your new community.
MWR Sport and Fitness Centers
Within Morale, Welfare and Recreation, the physical fitness, aquatics and sports programs provide you with opportunities to improve physical conditioning and to have fun through organized sporting activities. Although there are age restrictions for some activities, give the Sport and Fitness Center a call and find out what programs your kids might be able to enjoy. Here are some of the activities and programs you may find at the Sport and Fitness Center:

Water aerobics
Personal training
Racquetball, tennis and basketball courts
