Camping Facilities and Rental Gear from Morale, Welfare and Recreation
Have you considered taking your family on a camping trip but don't know where to go or don't have the equipment to make it happen? Start making your plans today with the help of your installation's Morale, Welfare and Recreation office. They can help you find the perfect campground and decide whether to rent a recreational vehicle or tent. MWR can also provide you with all the equipment you'll need to make the trip a memorable event for you and your family.
Morale, Welfare and Recreation camping facilities
MWR programs for each service not only provide great opportunities for fitness, sports, travel and more, but they also offer recreation and camping facilities for military families across the United States. Most of the 50 states have at least one recreation facility specifically for military service members and their families; some states have as many as 16 facilities available. Below are some examples of what each service MWR has to offer.
Army
Engineer Beach RV Park, Fort Rucker, Dothan, Ala.
The RV Park and Family Campground offers 48 camp sites, 18 long-term sites and 30 short-term sites. The RV Park offers easy access to a boat ramp, a great mix of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, kayaking and canoeing, in addition to the breathtaking view of scenic Lake Tholocco.
Marine Corps
Lake O'Neill Recreation Park, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Lake O'Neill Recreational Park at Camp Pendleton offers fishing, rowboats, RV and tent camping, cabanas, playgrounds, basketball, softball, miniature golf and a peninsula for group activities. Campsites offer water, electricity, sewer hookups and tent camping. The campground is American with Disabilities Act compliant.
Navy
Blue Angel Recreation Area, Pensacola, Fla.
Seventy-five campsites are available at the campground. The park also has a marina, miniature golf, paint ball and disc golf. Fifteen fully furnished two-bedroom mobile homes are also available for rent. All camping sites are within easy walking distance of park beaches and other activities.
Air Force
Grassy Pond Recreation Area, Lake Park, Ga.
Grassy Pond is a 500-acre recreation area with a 275-acre pond that has 19 cabins, 39 RV sites, nine tent sites, four group shelters and a recreational boat area. The major fishing area offers a variety of facilities and activities including nature trails, fishing boats, pedal boats, a sand volleyball court and a basketball court. Balls, horseshoe sets and outdoor games are available for rental.

Recreational vehicles, tents and camping gear rental
You want to go camping with your family but don't have an RV, a tent or the gear you need for the trip. Don't worry! Your installation's MWR has everything you need for your camping experience. Here's a list of what may be available for rent:

This list is just a sampling of items available for rent from your installation's MWR for camping. Each MWR has different procedures and regulations for renting equipment; some may require you to take safety classes before you can rent certain items.
